At the Literacy and Learning Centre, we recognise that every child is unique. We take a neuroaffirming approach to assessment, focusing on understanding and valuing each child’s individuality. Our experienced team uses a compassionate and comprehensive process to identify the strengths, challenges, and specific needs of children and teens on the autism spectrum. We offer assessment services tailored for school-aged children.
What sets our assessment apart is our commitment to creating a neuroaffirming environment, fostering a positive and supportive experience for individuals with diverse neurological profiles. Our skilled Psychologists tailor the assessment process to ensure that it is sensitive, respectful, and aligned with the principles of neuroaffirmation.
Key Features of Our Assessment Approach:
– Comprehensive Evaluation: Our assessments cover a wide range of domains, including social communication, sensory processing, behavior, and cognitive functioning, providing a holistic understanding of each child or teen.
– Collaborative Approach: We believe in the power of collaboration. Our team works closely with parents, caregivers, and educators to gain valuable insights and create a comprehensive picture of the individual’s strengths and challenges.
– Individualised Recommendations: Following the assessment, we provide personalised recommendations and support strategies to empower families and educators. We aim to enhance the individual’s quality of life and promote success in their unique developmental journey.
– Celebrating Neurodiversity: Our commitment to neuroaffirmation means recognising and celebrating the strengths that come with diverse neurological profiles. We strive to create an inclusive environment that respects and values every individual for who they are.

Important note about Autism assessments: the Literacy and Learning Centre is able to cater for assessments of school aged children only. If you require an assessment for NDIS funding purposes or require ADOS testing, we can provide you with names of alternative assessment services that are able to provide this service.
