Literacy is the Key to Learning
The Literacy and Learning Centre is a specialised service to help children and adolescents who are struggling with reading, spelling, and learning.
Many children need help to master the skills that are so important for them to achieve their best at school and that open the door to opportunities in work and higher education later in life.
It is estimated that between 10 to 20% of children will experience mild to moderate learning difficulties at school, while 5% will have ongoing and severe problems despite receiving extra help. 80% of children identified as having learning difficulties at school have problems with literacy.
A comprehensive assessment at the Literacy and Learning Centre identifies why children are having these problems and what to do to help click here to find out more about our assessment service.
The results of comprehensive testing form the basis for detailed recommendations or referral to our remedial tutoring programme for help that is tailored to your child’s identified difficulties click here to find out more about our remedial tutoring service.
Support from a Clinical Psychologist is also available to help children boost their self-esteem and learn strategies to manage other problems they may be experiencing, such as anxiety click here to find out more about Clinical Psychology services.
